Project overview:

Techno-Economic Mooring Configuration and Design for Floating Offshore Wind

Awardee:

UMass Amherst

Start Date:

Q2, 2021

Technical Challenge Area:

Floating Structure Engineering

Completion Date:

Q3, 2022

Synopsis:

The University of Massachusetts Amherst will develop mooring and foundation systems for typical FOWT that are cost-optimized in terms of choice of materials and topology. This project will contribute to the suggested design methodology by developing mooring configurations using various material combinations.

Target Outcomes:

1
Develop comparable overall cost estimation and identify cost drivers for different mooring system solution
2
Develop a cost comparison and cost drivers clarification report.
