Annual NOWRDC Technical Symposium

The NOWRDC Annual Technical Symposium is a two-day, hybrid gathering of the offshore wind innovation ecosystem. Held in a different location each year with a global virtual component, the symposium brings together innovators, researchers, developers, and policymakers across the full spectrum of offshore wind: national laboratories and academic institutions, venture-backed startups, offshore wind developers, state and federal government, consultancies, and environmental organizations.

The symposium showcases results from NOWRDC’s active project portfolio and the broader innovation landscape, fostering strategic dialogue about critical next steps in offshore wind development. By connecting high-impact individuals across sector lines, the event accelerates collaboration and drives the technological advances needed to scale offshore wind energy.

2026 NOWRDC Technical Symposium in New York City

In February 2026, NOWRDC convened offshore wind leaders for a Technical Symposium co-located with Oceantic Network’s IPF Conference. Bringing together voices from government, industry, NGOs, and the innovation workforce, the symposium took a clear-eyed look at the current industry moment.

Key insight: while offshore wind faces a near-term slowdown, it creates valuable space to advance technologies to deployment readiness, strengthen coordination, and better communicate the sector’s value. With offshore wind expanding globally and the U.S. retaining strong R&D excellence, the foundation is being laid for the next wave of growth. Cross-sector collaboration proved essential to moving from ideas to practical solutions.
