Project overview:

Autonomous Vessel-Based Multi-Sensing System for Inspection and Monitoring

Awardee:

GE Research

Start Date:

Q3, 2022

Technical Challenge Area:

O&M and Safety

Completion Date:

Q4, 2023

Synopsis:

This project aims to advance the remote inspection and monitoring technologies and strategies for exterior components of offshore wind turbines, with the end goal of reducing O&M costs for offshore wind.

Target Outcomes:

1
Create a conceptual design of a proof-of-concept (POC) multi-sensing system for use in conjunction with autonomous vessel-based inspection of offshore wind turbines, with the design specifically focusing on the strategies for data quality enhancement.
2
Prove this system could generate high quality images serving as a novel solution for offshore wind inspection.
