Project overview:

Innovative Anchoring System for Floating Offshore Wind

Awardee:

Triton Systems, Inc.

Start Date:

Q4, 2020

Technical Challenge Area:

Floating Structure Engineering

Completion Date:

Q2, 2023

Synopsis:

In order to address the challenges associated with anchoring floating offshore wind turbines, Triton is developing a novel offshore wind turbine anchoring system. The technology operationalizes the use of a helical-structured anchor to meet floating offshore wind requirements while reducing fabrication and installation costs.

Target Outcomes:

1
Triton will develop a pilot-scale anchor prototype for demonstration through the American Bureau of Shipping (ABS) New Technology Qualification (NTQ) Process.
2
The project objective is to receive an ABS Type Approval at the end of the NTQ Prototype Validation Stage.
