Technical Challenge Area:
Electrical Power Systems
Completion Date:
N/A (Currently Underway)
Synopsis:
This project aims at feasibility study of a novel approach to robustly suppress subsea cable vibrations and increase the power transmission resiliency by using retrofittable passive Nonlinear Energy Sinks (NESs).
Target Outcomes:
1
A retrofit solution to significantly stabilize the offshore wind platform motions and at the same time to harvest the wind and wave induced vibrations.
2
Report of lab test for the feasibility of the proposed NES for subsea cable, compared with the baseline.
